The Long Embrace - Fishtown

After retiring and trading suburban life for the energy of the city, these homeowners envisioned a home that felt warm, welcoming, and unmistakably their own. Alongside their beloved cat, they wanted every room to celebrate the next chapter of their lives while honoring the stories they had collected throughout the last one.

The Long Embrace transforms the living and dining spaces into an inviting home where comfort and character exist in equal measure. Rich walnut wood tones, warm white walls, earthy green upholstery, and layered natural textures create an atmosphere that feels grounded without sacrificing sophistication. Every design decision was made to support the rhythms of everyday life, from quiet mornings with coffee to evenings spent entertaining friends.

At the heart of the design is a custom media center and bookcase, thoughtfully designed to showcase keepsakes gathered during decades of travel. Rather than filling shelves with decorative objects for the sake of styling, the built-ins tell the homeowners' story, displaying meaningful souvenirs, books, and artwork that reflect a lifetime of experiences. A custom closet brings beauty and organization to their daily routine, while layered window treatments add softness, privacy, and depth throughout the home. The dining room was designed to feel equally intentional, creating a welcoming place to gather, share meals, and make new memories.

The design also embraces the realities of everyday living. Instead of hiding their cat's furniture, we intentionally incorporated it into the overall design, proving that a home can be elegant, highly functional, and genuinely lived in all at once.

The result is a home that feels collected rather than decorated, personal rather than prescribed. The Long Embrace reflects not only the warmth of the interiors themselves, but also two homeowners embracing a new season of life surrounded by the memories they've made and the ones still to come.
